 Altes Schulhaus (Rathaus)

Former "Fruchtkasten", also known as the new building, the medieval ground floor was renovated in 1563. In addition to a coach house, the building also housed three butcher's shops. Two of them were leased to Christian butchers and one to a Jewish butcher.

The two upper floors of the building were used to store grain (fruit boxes). Farmers had to deliver their harvested grain here, the so-called "tithe" (tenth part of the harvest). In 1580, the upper floor of the building was dilapidated and had to be renovated. In the first half of the 19th century, the building lost its original purpose. In 1852, it was acquired by the town of Creglingen at an auction. It was then converted into school rooms. A bell was discovered in the ridge turret. This was attached to the ridge turret from the Zinkenist tower, which had been demolished in 1875, and was still used as a control bell. The platform of the Zinkenist tower can be seen further up Torstrasse on the left-hand side at the staircase).

Today, the administration of the town of Creglingen is housed here at Torstrasse 2.

Now walk a few steps down Torstrasse and you will find yourself in front of the beautiful town pharmacy.
