Virtual city tour Creglingen
 Malerwinkel + Touristinformation

You are standing here at one of the most beautiful corners of Creglingen with an ideal photo motif - in front of you is a view of the former castle (left), straight ahead a view of the tower of the Protestant town church, the church steps and to the right the impressive "Stahlsche Haus".

Look to the left and you will see the lower part of the former town castle from the Brandenburg-Ansbach period. Above you will see the tower of the Protestant town church of Peter and Paul.

The choir of the church was built around 1180. The choir altar is perhaps the most beautiful piece in the church - the family of Jesus takes centre stage. The galleries of the church were built around 1750 and offer seating for around 600 people. Above it is a mighty organ with around 1000 small and large pipes.

The large high altar was donated by the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1753 and depicts the crucifixion of Jesus.

Stahlsches Haus: this house was built in 1475 and is considered one of the oldest houses in Creglingen.

It was originally built as the house of the head chaplain and has a remarkable Alemannic half-timbered structure. The first settlement of the Alemannic chief Crago is also said to have been located here. In 1982, the town pharmacist Albert Zahn bought this house from the Protestant parish. At the time, it was in a poor condition and Albert Zahn had the house completely renovated. It is also worth noting that during the renovation period, two sayings worth reading were affixed to the façade of the house. These read: "Whoever builds on the streets must let the people talk - if it were up to everyone's wishes, this house would no longer be standing today". This slogan was inspired by critical voices who did not understand the financial and structural costs of the building renovation. Another saying can be found on the gable end: "Because each part supports the other, I could stand for 500 years - if everyone benefits the whole in this way, the people will not perish".

The house has been rented out since its completion and offers special and cosy living space. `

At the end of the city tour, turn left through the archway into the castle courtyard.
