 Herrgottskirche

Dear visitors,
A warm welcome to the Herrgottskirche.
Legend has it that it all began in the 14th century with the discovery of a host in a field near Creglingen. As a result, the Herrgottskirche was built on the site where the host was found and today it houses outstanding art treasures. You are invited to experience and familiarise yourself with these special works in this church with all your senses.
The Marian altar, the main work by Tilman Riemenschneider, in the centre of the church is particularly eye-catching.
"Humanity and humanity become real encounters", as Martin Buber wrote.
The unique thing about Tilman Riemenschneider is how he captures individual character traits and emotions in his depictions of people in wood. Very human and very touching. An encounter with the artist, the biblical figures and also with the viewer becomes possible.
We hope that you will be touched both humanly and divinely by all the art treasures in this church.
The Herrgottskirche is a place of silence and encounter.
Feel the special atmosphere that you will encounter in this church.
